Rook’s Revenge

Developed by Betsoft Gaming, Rook’s Revenge is a September 2012 Mesoamerican html5 video slot whose prequel is titled Aztec Treasures (June 2011). It is based on the Aztec Empire—under fictitious tribal king Rook—whose coverage included Mexican areas. Themes: mythology, tribal gods, ruins, totems, ancient civilization, and Aztec culture.

More ancient civilization-inspired games from Betsoft: The Golden Owl of Athena (June 2018), Gladiator (June 2011), Pharaoh King (February 2012), Aztec Treasure, Legend of the Nile (December 2017), and Treasure Room (June 2009). Rook’s Revenge’s rival games include Aztec Luck (July 2020) from Silverback Gaming, Aztec Empress (February 2017) from Casino Technology, and Almighty Aztec (August 2020) from SpinPlay Games.

Seven symbols (death totem miquiztli, god Tlaloc, goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, goddess Coyolxauhqui, monkey totem Ozomatli, feathered serpent god Quetzalcoatl, and supreme god Huitzilopochtli) require three, four, or five winning combinations.

Rook’s Revenge Game Characteristics
Rook’s Revenge has a celled 5X3 grid that is embedded on two overgrown, mountainous Aztec temples. There are 26 left-to-right fixed paylines, nine symbols, eleven coin denominations, five bet levels, 55 total bets, seven win multipliers, locked symbols, retriggerable free games, no bonus game, no side game, and pays from $0.03 to $12500.00.

Rook’s Revenge has two special symbols and seven ordinary symbols. Special symbols: the free games-activating feature is a golden Mayan mask; and the substituting wild is a colorful golden shield and crisscrossing swords.

Ordinary symbols: red death totem called miquiztli; fanged purple rain god Tlaloc; blue-and-golden water goddess Chalchiuhtlicue; orange moon goddess Coyolxauhqui; green-and-golden monkey totem called Ozomatli; feathered red-and-green serpent god Quetzalcoatl; and earthen supreme god Huitzilopochtli.
The coin denominations (and level 1): $0.25 (minimum bet), $0.50, $0.75, $1.00, $1.25, $2.50, $3.75, $5.00, $6.25, $12.50, and $25.00. Bet level 2: $0.50, $1.00, $1.50, $2.00, $2.50, $5.00, $7.50, $10.00, $12.50, $25.00, and $50.00.

Bet level 3: $0.75, $1.50, $2.25, $3.00, $3.75, $7.50, $11.25, $15.00, $18.75, $37.50, and $75.00. Bet level 4: $1.00, $2.00, $3.00, $4.00, $5.00, $10.00, $15.00, $20.00, $25.00, $50.00, and $100.00. Bet level 5: $1.25, $2.50, $3.75, $5.00, $6.25, $12.50, $18.75, $25.00, $31.25, $62.50, and $125.00 (maximum bet).

The $125.00 bet yields these Rook’s Revenge payouts for three, four, and five winning combinations. Death totem miquiztli pays $250.00, $1250.00, and $12500.00. God Tlaloc pays $100.00, $500.00, and $5000.00. Goddess Chalchiuhtlicue pays $75.00, $250.00, and $2500.00.

Goddess Coyolxauhqui pays $50.00, $125.00, and $1000.00. Monkey totem Ozomatli pays $25.00, $100.00, and $500.00. Serpent god Quetzalcoatl pays $20.00, $75.00, and $375.00. Supreme god Huitzilopochtli pays $15.00, $50.00, and $250.00.

Winning totems explode, thereby creating space for newly fetched symbols that join the locked non-winning symbols. Back-to-back wins progressively increase the win multipliers, situated along the bottom. Winless spins reset the win multiplier to X1 that (in the regular games) then changes to 2X after the first win; the second back-to-back changes it to X3, while the third back-to-back win activates the maximum X5 win multiplier.

Three Mayan masks prompt the free games that are set in a flower garden. In the free games, the lowest (reset to) 3X win multiplier changes to X6 after the first win; the second back-to-back changes it to 9X, while the third back-to-back win activates the maximum 15X win multiplier. Rook’s Revenge has a $2330000.00 non-progressive jackpot.

The good Rook’s Revenge software: icons embedded on artefacts, mobile and desktop versions; quick spin; and 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, and 100 automated spins. Ambient background: tribal sounds. Sound effects: ringing, whoosh, crooning, and clinking. The animated 3D graphics include: shimmering water, dramatic tribal king, exploding totems, and dusty reels.
