Knights of Gold

Knights of Gold, released in 2017, is a medieval kingdom-themed slot game made by Betdigital; SG Digital and NYX Gaming are its suppliers. Knights of Gold is set in the medieval period and features warring people; silver, gold, swordmanship, heraldry, and knighthood are some of its thematic elements. Similar games from Betdigital include Crowning Glory (June 2017) and Wilds Deluxe (October 2017). Rival games include Black Knight (August 2011) from WMS, 5 Knights (September 2013) from NextGen Gaming, and Knight’s Quest from Novomatic.

Knights refer to Middle Ages-era armored mounted swordsmen. The featured knights in the Knights of Gold are fitted with golden-and-silver helmets, which seemingly inspired the naming. Ten of the Knights of Gold symbols (10, J, Q, K, A, chalice, flag, shield, castle, and the “WILD” sword) require three, four, or five winning combinations; while one symbol (the “BONUS” weapons) require two or three combinations.

Knights of Gold Game Characteristics

Knights of Gold has two gray grids that spin simultaneously. The main centrally located grid measures 5X3 and has fancy silver-and-golden margins. A second irregular silver-lined grid that measures 5X12 is located at the right of the interface. There are twelve symbols, five win multipliers, up to X10 win multipliers, up to 30 free spins, 100 fixed pay lines, fixed odds, ten bet sizes, and two bonus games. The regular payouts of Knights of Gold range from X10 to X2000.

Knights of Gold has ten ordinary symbols and two special symbols. The ordinary symbols are: an embroidered silver-and-purple 10; an embroidered silver J; an embroidered silver-and-golden Q; an embroidered golden K fitted with a red heraldic lion; an embroidered silver-and-golden A fitted with a red drape; a golden chalice embedded with black gems; a silver-and-golden knight’s helmet fitted with a red scarf shoulder; a red flag bearing a white heraldic lion; a riveted brown-and-silver shield; and a white castle in a green countryside.

The special symbols: the substitute is a “WILD” armored knight’s hand holding a gem-encased silver sword; the free games-triggering symbol is a “BONUS” shield and crisscrossing hammer and axe.

The Knights of Gold bet sizes: $1.00, $2.00, $3.00, $4.00, $5.00, $10.00, $20.00, $25.00, $50.00, and $100.00. The Knights of Gold payouts for three, four, and five winning combinations. Either 10, or J, or Q pays X10, X20, and X40; either K, or A pays X20, X40, and X100; either the urn or the gladiator’s helmet pays X100, X200, and X400; the flag pays X100, X200, and X500; the shield pays X200, X400, and X400; and the castle pays X400, X1000, and X2000.

The two bonus games: more than three shields unlock the randomized Shield Surprise Bonus, therefore transforming a whole grid into prize-revealing shields; and the Bonus Symbol Respin whereby two Bonus symbols prompt the wins to be offered before the non-winning reel is re-spun. During the free spins, three Bonus symbols offer a choice of five: 30 free spins and X1 win multiplier; 15 free spins and X2 win multiplier; 10 free spins and X3 win multiplier; 6 free spins and X5 win multiplier; or 3 free spins and X10 win multiplier. Whenever three Wilds show up on the main grid, they are transferred to its counterpart column on the other grid.

Knights of Gold’s non-progressive jackpot is: X100 maximum bet X2000 (for three Wilds) X10 win multiplier, which theoretically amounts to $2000000. The Knights of Gold software is good, the sound effects (including clashing swords) and theme song are are interesting, and the animated 3D graphics are unique.
