Halloween Horrors

Halloween Horrors, which 1X2 Gaming released in October 2017, is a slot game adaptation of Halloween. Relatable games from its developer include Dark Thirst (May 2015), Deadworld, and Blood Bank Scratch. Rival games include NetEnt’s Halloween Jack (October 2018), Playtech’s Halloween Fortune (October 2011), and Booongo’s Halloween Witch (September 2016).

Halloween is a yearly, nightly celebration held on late October, where the young attendees’ clothes and makeup are meant to scare off good-humoredly. Eight symbols (J, Q, K, A, tree stump, zombie, headstone, and “scatter” skull) require three, four, or five winning combinations; four symbols (cat, bat, latex mask, and witch hat) require two, three, four, or five combinations.

Halloween Horrors Game Characteristics
Halloween Horrors has a 5X3 grid, up to 15 free games, and 25 adjustable pay lines. The thirteen symbols consist of three special symbols and ten ordinary symbols. The three special symbols are: an orange-colored “Wild” skull pumpkin, which substitutes for the ordinary symbols; a tan “Scatter” skull, which offers a regular payout and free spins; and a cracked skull-inspired oval cream headstone with a cross at the top, which shows up in the free games mode only.

The ten ordinary symbols are: a dripping green J; a dripping green Q; a dripping green K; a dripping green A; a gasping orange human face carved from a tree stump; a turquoise-faced zombie; a gray cat with a red nose and blue-and-white eyes; a red bat with pointed incisors; a white latex mask; and a black witch hat with a red strap.

To set the coin values, bet levels (coins), and active pay lines; the Halloween Horrors players click the lines/coin value button at the bottom left, set the figures in the pop-up window by swiping up or down, then click “GO”. Halloween Horrors has a few coin values: $0.01, $0.02, $0.05, $0.10, $0.20, and $0.50. However, there are numerous optional bet sizes based, thanks to bet levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

The minimum bet is $0.01 (bet level 1 X one pay line X $0.01 coin value). Although the maximum bet that the players can set is $62.50 (the $0.50 coin value X bet level 5 X 25 pay lines), interestingly, the “Bet” section on the interface displays twice as much, showing $125.00 maximum bet.

Note: the payouts are not dynamic; instead, there are bet multipliers. The following are the Halloween Horrors payouts for three, four, and five matching symbols. J has X9, X12, and X20. Q has X10, X18, and X45. K has X11, X24, and X60. A pays X13, X27, and X70. The human face-shaped tree stump offers X15, X32, and X80. The zombie’s head offers X20, X40, and X80. The headstone has X30, X100, and X200. The “scatter” skull has X22, X80, and X400.

The Halloween Horrors payouts for two, three, four, and five matching symbols. The cat’s head pays X4, X22, X40, and X100. The bat’s head offers X5, X32, X75, and X300. The latex mask pays X5, X40, X150, and X500. The witch hat pays X6, X45, X200, and X750.

Three, four, and five “scatter” skulls offer five free games, ten free games, and 15 free games, respectively. Every line has $3750.00 maximum payout, while each bet cycle has $10000.00 maximum payout. According to the Halloween Horrors webpage on the 1X2 Gaming website, the non-progressive jackpot is $22500.00.

The Halloween Horrors software is good; on the interface, the bet adjustment icon is at the bottom left, the paytable at the bottom right, the spin button at center left, and the on/off sound and rules at the top left. The spooky sounds relate to the frightening animated symbols being struck by bolts of lightning, the skull pumpkins lined on either side of the grid, the jack-o-lanterns, and the silhouettes of the leafless trees sheltering the bats.
