Multiple people can play Blackjack, and the object is to beat the dealers hand. The dealer will deal out two cards to all players, and then two cards to himself. The dealer will only expose one of his cards to the players, and then the players have the option of “hitting” or “standing”. The game is known as “21” because the number 21 is the highest the cards can go up to. For example, lets say you have in your hand a 7 and a 9, giving you 16. In Blackjack, suits don’t matter. If you choose to “hit” the dealer will give you another card. If it is HIGHER than 21 then you go “bust” and immediately lose the hand.

The object of Blackjack is of course to beat the dealers hand – the trick to Blackjack is that you don’t actually know what the dealers hand is – you have to act first. You do get a “hint” of the dealers blackjack hand as he has to expose one card. That’s where basic math and statistics come into play – for example, if the dealer has a 6 showing then the odds favour him having a 16 in his hand, as a Jack, Queen and King all equal 10 and so there is more chance that the dealer will have that, and thus you should play accordingly.
